SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Habersham School announced earlier this week its boys' basketball program has a new coach, naming Ben Essenburg as the new head coach. Essenburg replaces Michael Jaudon, who recently joined Savannah State University as an assistant coach.
Essenburg enters his 10th year of coaching, bringing experience across elementary, middle school, JV, and varsity levels, with the majority of his career devoted to basketball in both school programs and AAU competition. A four-year player at Taylor University in Indiana, Essenburg’s coaching philosophy blends competitive excellence with a mission to develop young men who strive to glorify Jesus through their gifts on and off the court.
“I’m ready to start, and I look forward to leading a basketball program at The Habersham School that students, fans, faculty, and alumni can all be proud of,” Essenburg said. “Go Patriots!” in a post on the Habersham School athletics social media Facebook page.
Habersham’s athletic community is eager to see how Essenburg’s leadership will impact the program’s growth and competitiveness in the coming seasons. His ability to connect with players at all levels is expected to be a key factor as the Patriots aim to make their mark on the local basketball scene.
The Patriots will open their season later this fall, giving Essenburg his first opportunity to put his stamp on the team and lay the groundwork for future success.
