Pooler Rec 12U team wins GRPA state championship

The Pooler Recreation 12u boys won the Georgia Recreation and Parks Assocation (GRPA) 12u Boys Basketball State Championship on March 7 at the Clarence Morgan Complex in Effingham County. 

Pooler won the GRPA District tournament played Feb. 17-21 by defeating 12U teams from Richmond Hill, Ware County and Douglas /Coffee County to advance to the state tournament. In the state tournament, Pooler defeated Effingham County on March 6 and then had to win three games on March 7 to earn the state title.

Pooler earned victories over Stephens Countuy and Sumter for a berth in the championship game. In the state championship game, Pooler defeated Summerville by a score of 73-34.

It's the second state championship for this group of players coached by Chris Kirby and Tony Davis. They also won the GRPA 10u Boys state championship in 2024.
