The Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week were not only recognized, but they also met former Florida State Quarterback Chris Weinke, the seventh Heisman Trophy award winner to be a guest speaker at the Savannah Quarterback Clubs weekly meetings.
Joshua Pridgen of Jenkins High School took Offensive Player of the Week honors. In Jenkins' 28-7 victory over Hilton Head High, Pridgen ran for 202 yards on 16 carries for an average of 12.6 yards per carry and two scores.
Cooper Bachman of Islands High School tackled the Defensive Player of the Week award. Bachman had seven solo tackles, five assists, two tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles were among the senior's accomplishments. In a tough loss against Brunswick, Bachman never left the field, playing fullback, punter, and placekicker.
