Mary Persons and Calvary Day School completed a thrilling Georgia High School Association Class 3A semi-final baseball series of three intense games. Mary Persons opened with a 4-3 victory in the series' first game after scoring three runs in the top of the sixth inning. The Bulldogs gave up two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning but got the final out to secure the victory.
Calvary forced Game #3 by winning Game #2. The Cavaliers run-ruled the Bulldogs 12-1 to force a deciding Game #3. Calvary Day took a 1-0 lead after the first inning before scoring seven runs in the top of the second inning to take control. The Cavaliers scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning to secure the win.
In Game 3, Calvary gave the ball to Vanderbilt commit Will Hampton, who pitched an unbelievable two-hit shutout, striking out seven and only walking two. Calvary took the lead first in the bottom of the fourth on a single by Brody Dawson. Dawson went two for three on the day and had two RBIs in the win. So the Cavaliers ride on now to the GHSA Class 3A State Championship series.
