GHSA Softball Playoffs Begin Today, Local Teams Aim for Columbus

The Georgia High School Association softball regular season concluded last week, and the playoffs began today, Monday, October 16, 2023. This week, the playoffs will be played to determine the eight teams from each classification that will advance to the GHSA state fast-pitch softball tournament in Columbus, Georgia. South Effingham and Savannah Christian will host super regionals during the week.

GHSA Class 7A, 5A, 3A, 1A DII play Monday-Tuesday and Class 6A, 4A, 2A, and 1A DI on Wednesday- Thursday.

Class 7A

  • Richmond Hill (9-14) at Brookwood (19-5-1) - Monday, October 16 at 1:00 PM

The "Coach" Karl DeMasi has been teaching and coaching for the past 35 years on all levels of academia and athletics. One of his hobbies has been writing, announcing and talking about sports. DeMasi has been involved in the Savannah Area sports scene since 1995, and he created the high school magazine "The Prep Sports Report" in 2000. In 2010, the "Coach" started broadcasting The Karl DeMasi Sports Report. He's still going strong, broadcasting on Facebook live and Twitter live every Saturday morning. You gotta love it!
