Habersham School Volleyball season ends but with honors X-C program running strong still

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, in the semi-finals of the Georgia Association of Private & Parochial Schools DI A state tournament, the Habersham School's season came to an end. The Lady Patriots lost to eventual state champions Praise Academy,  16-25, 19-25, and 17-25. Maddie Viles, Pier Schneider, and Brownett Olson each had five kills for Habersham. Addison Beaver had 20 digs, and Lucy Kelly had three aces, one kill, and 14 assists. 

Lucy Kelly and Addison Beaver were named to the GAPPS DI A All-State team, which is a great honor. Kelly had 92 aces, 126 digs, and 491 assists by the end of the season, while Beaver had 525 service receptions and 290 digs.

Habersham Varsity Boys Captures 3rd, Middle School Girls Win Again

The Habersham School Boys Varsity team captured 3rd among 16 scoring teams at the challenging 7th Mile Farm Invitational in Statesboro on Thursday, October 13, leading all Savannah and Chatham County schools. They were edged out only by host Southeast Bulloch High School and Vidalia High School. 

Sophomore Nick Aldrich captured another medal, finishing in 3rd place as an individual in a time of 18:12. Freshman Daniil Phillips captured 11th overall in a time of 18:57. He was followed by sophomore Henry Brooks(19:31), junior Tyson Harper (19:43), and senior Stephen Dusek (20:51). 

Ashby Rowland and Zoie Hohnerlein represented the varsity girls. 

 

In the Boys JV race, freshman Tripp Fowler captured a 7th place finish overall in a time of 21:31. 

In the Middle School race, the girl's team remains undefeated on the season, capturing their 5th win as a team with a perfect score of 15. All six runners finished in the top 10, led by seventh grader Sadie McGarity in 2nd, followed by Gaby Kenard (3rd), Eliza Reeves (4th), Holland Hogan (6th), Ivy Ann Hogan (9th), and Ellie Stephens (10th). 

The Middle School boy's team raced to a season-high 2nd place finish overall, with two runners finishing in the top 5. Fifth grader Ryder Perdue led the way with a 4th place medal, followed by eighth grader Isaiah Stephens with a 5th place medal. Caedmon Hining, Henry Traut, and Lincoln Denmark rounded out the top five for the team. 

The Habersham Varsity will compete next at the GAPPS Division I Region 1 meet Saturday, October 22, hosted by Fideles Christian School in Cumming, GA. The Habersham Middle School will compete next at the Middle School Savannah Private School Championship Wednesday, October 19, at Skidaway Island State Park.
