Hayes, Lane and Morris tied after first round of Matt Warren Championship

Savannah's Carson Hayes, Morris Lane and Charles Morris all carded scores of 1-over par 73 at the Savannah Golf Club and are tied atop the leaderboard after the first round of the Matt Warren Championship played July 14. 

The Matt Warren is the second tournament in the inauguralTim O'Neal Perserverance Cup series presented by the Savannah Junior Golf Association and First Tee Savannah. Lane won the first event in June at the Deer Creek course at the Landings Club with a 36-hole score of 2-over par. 

Hayes, an incoming freshman at Benedictine Military School, posted four birdies while Lane, a senior at St. Andrew's School, and Morris, a junior at Savannah Country Day School, both were able to post five birdies. 

Only five strokes back are Savannah's Elliott Moody, a senior at Benedictine, and Richmond Hill's Sahaj Patel, a freshman at Savannah Country Day, after scores of 6-over 78. Rounding out the top 10 are Savannah's Christopher Templeton, Dawson Cox and Patrick Mahoney, Lou Lively from Collins, Ga., and Jacob Tasney from Guyton, Ga., after first round scores of 11-over 83.

In the Girls 15-18 age division, Ella Kate Woods from Statesboro, Ga., finished with a 5-over par 77 and leads Maya Lilja-Vazquez by three strokes. In the Boys 11-14 age group, Dean Butler posted 13-over 85 to lead Trip Gasaway and Albe Butler by one stroke with one round to play. 

And in the Girls 11-14 Richmond Hill's Victoria Grant has a sizable lead over Savannah's Emma Parker after one round.
