The Calvary Cavaliers faced off against the Jenkins Warriors in a region rematch in front of a packed crowd with a chance to clinch the Region 3 - AAA title. The Cavaliers pulled out a 51-45 win behind double-double performances by Destini Gooddine, Zora Geiger, and Breanna Jones. Every bit of these performances was needed, as Jenkins was, at times, giving the Cavaliers all they could handle.

"My biggest thing is getting my team to play together. In those [difficult] moments, I look for more of that," Calvary Head Coach Daniel Jackson said. "They have to see that they are contributing even though they're not necessarily getting their points. They got the rebounds that we needed, the assists that we needed, those things really helped us."

After entering the second quarter trailing 15-14, the Cavaliers went on an impressive 12-4 run, led by Destini Gooddine and Zora Geiger, who combined for 35 points in the game. However, the Warriors would not go down without a fight, and they went on a 12-2 run of their own to take a 31-28 lead into halftime.

"Basketball is a game of runs. When it looks like it's their time, their moment, we have to just keep our head, stay steady, stay disciplined, and play solid defense in those moments," Jackson said. "You have to stay solid, because at some moment, if we hang in there, the tide turns and it becomes our turn."

Again, in the third quarter, Calvary was trailing to start, and again, the Cavaliers caught fire early. Calvary stormed out to the widest margin of the game, taking a 40-31 lead behind 12 unanswered points to start the second half. Zora Geiger was lights out from midrange, and some excellent ball movement set her up.

But with the assists came turnovers, and in the blink of an eye, Jenkins went on a 6-0 run of their own to close out the third quarter.

"[Jenkins] has some very athletic kids up front, and they will come in those passing lanes and take the ball, so we had to respect that more," Jackson said.

Behind a third quarter that truly epitomized basketball as a game of runs, the Cavaliers had flipped the script, going from down three at halftime to up three entering the fourth quarter. After eight minutes of gritty, physical basketball that included 20 free throw attempts between the two teams, the final buzzer sounded, and the scoreboard showed Calvary 51 and Jenkins 45.
