Islands High School senior setter Aislinn Lanigan recorded a career milestone recording her 1000 career assist Tuesday night versus St. Andrew's School in a tri-match at Islands High School.

According to head coach Jessica Decker, Lanigan is the first Shark volleyball player to reach 1000 career assist at Islands High School.

"The position of the setter is truly selfless. Often, the setter is overlooked, and the result, the kill, is what is celebrated. Setters know this and still give it all they have for their team. Aislinn is an incredibly hard worker and a truely selfless athlete who deserves this recognition. We couldn't be more proud to have her as an integral part of our Shark family," said Decker.

The senior is a National Honor Society member at IHS and co-captain of the volleyball team this year. Lanigan has received an offer from Suffolk University, Boston, Massachusetts, to continue her volleyball career at the next level.

Aislinn has been a three-starter for the Sharks volleyball program. Lanigan is also a three-sport athlete at IHS and participates in volleyball, basketball, and tennis.

On Tuesday night, Islands hosted St. Andrew's School and Woodville Tompkins, beating both squads in two straight games.

The Sharks defeated St. Andrew's 25-8 and 25-15. In the night's last match against Woodville, the Sharks won 25-9 and 25-14. Islands improve to 3-1 on the season.
