It's the last week of Savannah Area high school basketball region play! Who's ranked? Who's in 1st? Who Clinched region titles?

The 2023 Savannah area boys and girls basketball region tournaments are starting to take shape, with only one week left in the regular season for most teams. Eight local teams are first in their regions, and have clinched regular season titles, and local internet websites rank most of them respectfully.

 

Below are the latest boy's and girl's standings and rankings for the Georgia High School Association, Georgia Independent, Georgia Association of Private and Parochial Schools, and the South Carolina Independent Schools Association. 

 

The Prep Sports Report once again has the most updated boys and girls GHSA, GIAA, GAPPS, SCISA basketball standings. GHSA region play starts Monday, February 13, 2023.  

 

Six local boys teams are already crowned regular season champions and earn a number one seed going into the boy's region tournaments. In GHSA Class 4A Region 3 is Benedictine (9-1, 13-5), in GHSA Class 2A Region 3 Windsor Forest (10-0, 18-5) and Woodville-Tompkins (10-0, 15-9) in GHSA Class 1A D1 Region 3. In GIAA AAAA/AAA District St. Andrew's (8-0, 23-1) and Memorial Day School (5-0,16-3) in GIAA A Region 6. The Habersham School boy's team (4-0, 12-6) in GAPPS 1-AA Region 4A.

 

On the girl's side, two teams have clinched first place, and in GHSA Class 3A Region 3, Calvary Day School (14-0, 18-5) finished  first as well as undefeated and will host the GHSA Class 3A region tournament for boys and girls. In GHSA Class 1A D1 Region 3, and the Lady Wolverines of Woodville-Tompkins (10-0, 19-5) did the same, going undeated in GHSA Class 1A D1 Region 3 and will also host the region tournament for boys and girls.

 

RANKING NEWS

In boy's rankings, Johnson jumped to #1 in the GHAS Class AAA rankings with their big win over Beach on Friday Night. Beach dropped to #4, and Groves cracked the top 10 at #10. Calvary Day is on a losing streak and is no longer in the top 10 rankings.

 

Windsor Forest moved up to #7 in GHSA Class AA, and Woodville Tompkins and Savannah High are ranked #8 and #9.

 

In GIAA on MaxPreps St, Andrew's School is ranked #1 in all classifications and #1 in GIAA Class AAAAA/AAA. Memorial Day School is #10 and #1 in GIAA Class A.

 

In the girl's GHSA rankings on Sandysspiel.com website, Woodville-Tompkins stayed at #5, and the Lady Reskins of Bryan County moved three spots from #10 to #7.
