Local Wrestlers are Ready to Rumble at GHSA Wrestling Championships!

Six wrestlers from South Effingham, one from Benedictine High School, and one from Richmond Hill will compete today at the GHSA Traditional Wrestling Championships in Macon, Georgia.

South Effingham Mustangs:

  • Christopher Hardiman (106 lbs) 
  • Emilio Santana (120 lbs)
  • Eli Wood (138 lbs) 
  • Gannon White (144 lbs) 
  • Brandon Bringer (157 lbs)
  • Ashton Anderson (285 lbs) 

Benedictine Cadets:

  • Connor Desautels (126 lbs) record

Richmond Hill Wildcats:

  • Izzy West (110 lbs) Traditional Girls Championships

 

All these athletes fought their way through tough competition to have a chance to reach the ultimate goal: winning a state championship!

The "Coach" Karl DeMasi has been teaching and coaching for the past 35 years on all levels of academia and athletics. One of his hobbies has been writing, announcing and talking about sports. DeMasi has been involved in the Savannah Area sports scene since 1995, and he created the high school magazine "The Prep Sports Report" in 2000. In 2010, the "Coach" started broadcasting The Karl DeMasi Sports Report. He's still going strong, broadcasting on Facebook live and Twitter live every Saturday morning. You gotta love it!
