Savannah Country Day School rising junior Caroline Hill has been named the recipient of the 2025 Robert Demere Sailing Scholarship, one of the top honors awarded annually to youth sailors in the Coastal Empire.
The 2025 scholarship was awarded at the 19th annual ceremony in May, making Caroline Hill the 19th recipient since the scholarship's founding in 2005. The Savannah Yacht Club gives the award and sends the winner(s) to the Charleston Ocean Sailing Academy for advanced sailing and power boating instruction.

Established in memory of longtime Savannah Yacht Club supporter Robert Demere Sr., the scholarship recognizes young sailors who demonstrate dedication to sailing, leadership among their peers, and a commitment to academics and character. The award has become a benchmark of excellence in the local sailing community, often going to student-athletes who balance success on the water with strong performance in the classroom and service to others.
Hill exemplifies the qualities the scholarship was created to honor. A year-round sailor with competitive experience through the Savannah Yacht Club, she also represents Savannah Country Day as a multi-sport athlete while maintaining a strong academic record. Her ability to juggle the demands of sailing, schoolwork, and school sports showcases the work ethic and resilience that made her a standout candidate for this year's award.
Now part of a select group of past recipients, Hill joins a tradition of student-athletes who have used the Robert Demere Sailing Scholarship as a springboard for continued achievement on and off the water.
As she prepares for her junior year, Hill remains a rising star in the Savannah sailing scene—and a well-rounded student-athlete at Savannah Country School and the Savannah community.
