Memorial Day Hawkins knocks in the John Carr Seaport Real Estate/Prep Sports Report Baseball playoff Player of the Week

It was playoff time in May, and one player knocked in the John Carr Seaport Real Estate/Prep Sports Report Baseball Player of the Week. Memorial Day School's junior William Hawkins is the Player of the Week in from the first round of the GIAA Class A 2023 playoffs.

Player: William Hawkins, junior - RHP/SS

School: Memorial Day School

Sport: Baseball

Week:  May 1, 2023 - May 7, 2023

 

 HIGHLIGHT:   In the first round of the Georgia Independent Athletic Association Class 3A playoffs versus Fullington Academy May 1 through May 3, 2023. Hawkins at the plate went 11-14 (.785 batting average), knocked in 13 runs batted in, had two doubles, and a home run. The Matadors took Fullington Academy to three games losing the three game series two games to one.

 

Note: On the season, William batted .490 with four home runs, six doubles, and 30 runs batted in.

 

COACH'S COMMENT: "William is the guy that gets our team going. He has done a great job at keeping us in games and helping provide quality starts on the mound. William was selected to the All-Region and GIAA All-State teams." - Memorial Day School head baseball coach Tyler Hemly.
