New Hampstead High School senior quarterback Rashawn Truell finished the 2024 Georgia High School Association (GHSA) regular season as the passing yards leader with an incredible 3,032 yards per the Georgia High School Football Daily Newsletter! In the last game of his career, he completed 35 of 47 passes for 508 yards and five touchdowns. Truell started the game ranked ninth in total yards, but his outstanding performance helped him score the 2024 passing leader.

In case you missed it earlier this season, Truell set a single-game GHSA record with 635 passing yards against defending GHSA Class 4A champ Perry. In 2023, he first made headlines by throwing for 533 yards against Class 4A champion Benedictine. Competing in one of the GHSA toughest regions in the state, New Hampstead ended the season 4-6, finishing fifth in Region 1-4A, missing out on the playoffs. Truell's high school career is over, and while he hasn't made a college decision yet, he's been offered to play at the next level by Fort Valley State, Bucknell, and Arkansas State. Somebody is going to get a great one. Congratulations Rashawn!
