Playoff Fast Fact: Bethesda's Comeback, GHSA Thriller, and SCISA Showdown Set for Nov. 22-23!

Here is the playoff schedule for high school football games on November 22 and 23, along with a fast fact from last Friday night's game. Check out the matchups to see which teams are competing this weekend!

Saturday, November 23, 2024

SCISA-AA CHAMPIONSHIP

Bethesda (9-3) vs. Pee Dee Academy (11-0) 3:30 p.m. at Charleston Southern

Fast Fact: Bethesda, the reigning 2023 SCISA Class 2A champion, secured its return to the championship game with a comeback victory on the road against Calhoun Academy.

Facing a 21-8 deficit at halftime, Bethesda scored  30 unanswered points in the second half to secure the victory. Their upcoming opponent will be Pee Dee Academy.

The teams faced off for the Region 1-2A championship on October 25, with the home team, Pee Dee Academy, achieving its tightest victory of the season against the Blazers, winning 25-22.

GHSA Second Round

Class 4A

(R1 #3) Benedictine (6-4) at (R2 #1) Ola (11-0)

Fast Fact: Benedictine went on the road and had a big win over Southwest DeKalb as the Cadets. The Cadets, playing their first-round game on the road since 2012, advanced to the second round of the Class 4A playoffs.

The Cadets will travel again next week to McDonough to compete against Ola, which defeated Flowery Branch 37-0 in its first game.

 

Class 3A

#10 Jenkins (9-2) at #7 Stephenson (8-3)

Fast Fact: The Warriors hosted a first-round playoff game for the first time since 2021 Friday night. They took a lead in the first quarter early and a 21-0 lead going into the fourth quarter in a convincing 28-14 win against Northwest Whitfield at Memorial Stadium.

The Warriors will take to the road and face Stephenson in a Class 3A second-round matchup this Friday night.

 

Class 3A-A private

#17 Savannah Country Day (5-6) at #1 Savannah Christian(9-0)

Fast Fact: Savannah Christian had a bye, but the Hornets headed to Atlanta for a Friday afternoon game that began at 2 p.m. against Mount Vernon, which plays the games with no lighting at its stadium. The Hornets won 23-17. The win came down to a last-second 2-yard line goal line stand for the win.

SCDS's first-round road win was the Hornets' first on the road since 2004. 

This Friday Night, the Hornets hit the road, but not far. Country Day travels to Pooler Stadium to take on the #1-seeded Savannah Christian Raiders. The teams meet on October 4, with a Raider 38-7 win.

 

#13 Mount Paran Christian (8-3) at #4 Calvary Day (9-0)

Last Weekend: Calvary Day School had a bye. Mount Paran defeated Greater Atlanta Christian 32-29.

With this year's bye, Calvary has held three straight home second-round playoff games.
