SAVANNAH, Ga. — Ten sacks, 12 tackles for loss, four touchdowns, and more than 250 yards of offense. Not a bad week for a sophomore.

St. Vincent's Academy's Liza Joyner put up those numbers in three games last week, earning the Prep Sports Report Grassi Roofing Flag Football Player of the Week honor.

Joyner, who plays running back and rusher for the Saints, made her presence felt on both sides of the ball against Savannah High on Oct. 13 and Savannah Christian and Groves on Oct. 15.

On offense, she accounted for more than 250 yards and scored four touchdowns. On defense, she recorded 10 sacks and 12 tackles for loss.

St. Vincent's assistant coach Spencer Quarles said Joyner has become an important part of the Saints' offense and defense.

"Liza is not only a blessing to coach, she has developed into a productive two-way player. She may only be a sophomore, but she is a game-changer on both offense and defense for our team," Quarles said.

Joyner's numbers tell the story. Whether carrying the ball or rushing the quarterback, the sophomore made plays for the Saints throughout the week.

Congratulations to Liza Joyner, the Prep Sports Report/Grassi Roofing Flag Football Player of the Week.
