ROUNDUP: Brown eclipses 1K career points in SCDS win over Aquinas

Savannah Country Day senior guard Erik Brown had himself a grand Saturday afternoon on January 16 against visiting Aquinas. Brown scored 25 points, eclipsing the 1,000-point mark for his career after 13 points dropped, and his Hornets won, 66-63. 

SCDS is alone atop the Region 3-A standings at 10-4 overall and 3-0 in the region. Country Day trailed the Irish 34-27 at halftime and 52-50 through three quarters. Gray Grayson aided Brown for the Hornets, scoring 10 points.

Camden Parada (26 points) and Patrick Green (20) scored 46 of the 63 scored by Aquinas (4-13, 0-4).

SCD — 11 - 16 - 23 - 16 — 66

JOHNSON 60, NEW HAMPSTEAD 54

SCJ senior Emondre Bowles scored 22 points and sophomore Antonio Baker added 11 to lead Class 3A No. 4 Johnson (9-1) to the non-region road win. 

Alaris Wall notched 18 points and DeAndre Smart 17 in a losing effort for the Phoenix (8-3).

WOODVILLE-TOMPKINS 80, TOOMBS CO. 52

The No. 5-ranked team in Class 2A, the Wolverines moved their record to 11-1 overall and 5-1 within its region. 

Lukas Platauna paced head coach Lenny Williams’ club with 20 points while Larry Chapman scored 12 and Zion Powers 11.

SAVANNAH CHRISTIAN 60, ISLANDS 44

SCPS senior guard Cooper George made six 3’s for a third consecutive game — all wins — as the Raiders moved their record to 8-7 with the non-region victory at Islands (3-11). 

George finished with 22 points and Parker All scored nine. Islands freshman Jordan Cave scored 20 for the Sharks conecting on six three pointers.
