Mike Vidan is a multi-sport athlete at Savannah Christian, excelling at both Football and Lacrosse. Like most kids in the area, Vidan started playing football at the Pooler Rec center, later playing for the SCPS middle school team. He stopped playing football after 8th grade to concentrate on lacrosse. He played year round for both SCPS and Top Left travel team.
Vidan leads the offensive at the midfield position, playing a quick and physical style of lacrosse. He was awarded Offensive Player of the Year (Sophomore Year) Most Valuable Player (Junior Year) and Offensive Player of the Year (senior year). He also served as Team Captain both Junior and Senior year. Mike says he will miss lacrosse but his teammates more. Mike has multiple offers to play at the next level but has yet to commit.
Mike says his biggest athletic regret is quitting football. It wasn’t until Coach Woodward came to SCPS that he considered playing again. Mike said, “Coach Woodward kept asking me to play, and I kept telling him I didn’t want to but after watching Varsity Blues over the summer I came back out.” And come back out he did, Vidan saw limited playing time the first two games but quickly earned a starting position at linebacker under the guidance of Coach Robert Walsh. Senior year is when he really came into his own. He was voted Team Captain, was honored to receive the Savannah Quarter Back award from NFL Hall of Famer Champ Bailey. He was also named to 1st Team All County and 2nd team All State. Mike stated, “Coach Walsh and Coach Woodward have had such a huge impact on my life, not only physically, but as a Christan”
Mike not only excels on the playing field but in the classroom and community. He received High Honor Roll, the All American Student Athlete Scholarship. He is a member of Best Buds Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Life Committee and Founder of the Dodgeball Club. Mike plans on attending Georgia College.
