Bethesda Academy senior Tyson Speaks has experienced many highs in his athletic career but none higher than winning a state championship in track and field in 2019.
In 2020, Speaks ran the 400-meter dash in 52.82, the 800-meter runin 2.15 and the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07. Next year, he will run for Clayton State University.
"My coach told me what you put in is what you will get out," said Speaks, who said his dad started him in the sport when he was 7 years old. "My goal is to have all this hard work pay for my books."
