McIvory continues his success on the track running AAU races during the summer. Jamari captured his second National AAU title in the 400-meter race at the 2023 AAU Las Vegas Nationals on Saturday, July 8, 2023. This year McIvory won the 17-19 old division. Last year he captured the  15-16-year-old division.

The race wasn't even close according to the official AAU time sheet. McIvory crossed the line in 48.37, over two seconds faster than the runner-up at 50.98.

McIvory when asked by the PSR when he knew he was going to win he said, "I came out faster than normal. I knew I was going to win when I passed everybody at the 200 m mark."

So with his second National AAU title outdoors in the 400-meter dash captured, what is next for Jamari McIvory?  A trip to the 2023 AAU Track and Field Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa, at Drake Stadium (on the campus of Drake University) from July 25-Aug. 5, 2023.

Jamari stated, " I hope to hit a time under the 47 second range in the 400m at the junior Olympics meet."

McIvory is a rising senior at SCPS and has had a fantastic 2023 track season. In May, he won the 2023 GHSA Class 3A 200 and 400-meter titles in 21.65 and 48.10 seconds. He also anchored the Savannah Christian Preparatory School Raider 4x400 relay team, which finished fourth in the state meet. By earning these titles, the Savanah Morning News named him the Coastal Empire Boy's Track and Field Athlete of the Year, which was well-deserved.

Last year in the GHSA Class A Private State meet as a sophomore, he won the 200 meters and finished seventh in the 400 meters. Jamari is a three-sport athlete at SCPS. Besides track, he also participates in football and basketball.
