Seven Flag Football Teams Headed to the GHSA Playoffs - Calvary & St. Vincent's Host

Seven Savannah Area schools head into rounds 1 and 2 of the Georgia High School Association Flag Football Championships. Calvary Day School is set to defend its State Flag football title in the 1-4A classification. St. Vincent's Academy is the new and upcoming program that everybody has talked about this season. Both schools will host first and second-round pods (matches) tomorrow night in Savannah. 

The GHSA Flag Football playoffs kicks off tomorrow with the first and second rounds on November 30 in a pod format. Four teams will meet at the number seeded school and play first round games. Then the winners face off in round 2. The winner advances to the quarterfinals on December 2, and the semifinals are on December 6. The flag football season will end with the state championships on December 9 at Georgia State Stadium's Centre Parc Stadium in Atlanta.  

Calvary hopes to play two games in the Class 1A-4A flag football playoffs, beginning when the Cavs host Statesboro at 5 p.m. They will face the winner of Mount Vernon Christian/LaGrange in round two on the same night if they win. 

St. Vincent's Academy is scheduled to host Kendrick at Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, November 30, at 4 p.m. in a first-round playoff matchup. If the Saints win, they will face the winner of Columbia/Mary Persons that night. This game is to begin at 6 p.m.

The other five schools making an appearance are Beach, Effingham County, Jenkins, New Hampstead, and Richmond Hill. Beach travels to Harris County and plays Portal at 5:30 p.m. If the Lady Bulldog wins, Beach will play the winner of Washington Atlanta/Harris County winner. 

Effingham County hits the road and takes on number one seed St. Anne -Pacelli at Pacelli game time is 5 p.m. If the Lady Rebels win they will take on the winner of Tri Cities/Loganville matchup.

Jenkins travels to the number one seeded Southeast Bulloch and kick-offs at 5 p.m. If the Lady Warriors win, they will play the South Atlanta/ Mount Northside Columbus winner at 7 p.m.

New Hampstead travels ot Pace Academy to take on Americus Sumter at 5 p.m. If the Lady Phoienix win they advance to play the winner of the Pace/Morgan County game.

Richmond Hill plays at Walnut Grove High School against Columbus at 5 p.m. If the Lady Wildcats win, they will play the winner of the Walnut Grove vs. Therrell 30 minutes after the conclusion of their game.

Last season, the GHSA awarded two state championships in its inaugural season – Calvary Day in Class A-5A and West Forsyth in Class 6A-7A. This season, three champions will be crowned as the GHSA expanded the classifications to include Class 7A (Division 3), Class 5A-6A (Division 2), and Class A-4A.
