South Effingham Wrestling Stays Perfect 22-0, Claims 4th Straight Rebel Invitational Title

South Effingham's wrestling team continues to be unstoppable, clinching the Effingham County High School Rebel Invitational championship this past weekend for the fourth straight year. The Mustangs posted an impressive team score of 334.5 points, outpacing rival Richmond Hill (294.5) and third-place Ware County (288) in the highly competitive tournament.

Senior Moose Bringer led the Mustangs Grapplers, who took first place in the 157-pound weight class for the fourth consecutive year, earning him the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler honor. Bringer, undefeated this season with a perfect 35-0 record—all wins coming by pins or technical falls—will set a school record for career wins this week, aiming to surpass 200 victories by Friday.

The Mustangs showcased their depth across multiple weight classes, with nine individual champions:

  • 106 lbs: Adam Hardeman (1st)
  • 113 lbs: Tahrik Bailey (1st)
  • 126 lbs: Noah Knowlton (1st)
  • 132 lbs: Emilio Santana (1st)
  • 138 lbs: Alaric Gibson (1st)
  • 144 lbs: Bear Bringer (1st)
  • 157 lbs: Moose Bringer (1st)
  • 285 lbs: Kevin Steptoe (1st)

Other notable performances included:

  • Andreo Manlove (106 lbs): 2nd place
  • Bobby Craun (165 lbs): 2nd place
  • Mayson Young (120 lbs): 3rd place

Even South Effingham's B Team (comprised of junior varsity wrestlers) made a mark, finishing eighth overall with 109 points.

Now boasting a perfect 22-0 record on the season, South Effingham sets its sights on an even bigger wrestling challenge this weekend at the Silver Spur Arena in Kissimmee, Florida. The tournament will feature the top-ranked teams from Georgia, Oklahoma, and other states. With momentum on their side, the Mustangs are poised to prove they belong among the nation's elite.
