St. James completes undefeated season with SPAL baseball championship

St. James Catholic School completed an an undefeated season with a 14-4 victory in the SPAL Middle School Baseball Championship played on April 29.

In the championship game, the Chargers (8-0) jumped out to a lead in the first inning behind Ben Parsons homerun to center field and never looked back. St. James added to their lead in the second inning with doubles by Grayson Bruce and Will Wallace and a run-scoring single by Parsons.

St. James starting pitcher Gustwick only allowed two hits and two runs before beling relieved by Tripp Gill.  The Chargers piled up 13 hits in the game and didn't commit an error in the field. 

During the season, Grayson Bruce lead the Chargers with a .613 bating average and three homeruns, Parson hit .577 with 18 runs batted in and Gustwick batted .542 with four doubles.

The St. James roster included Wyatt Harvey, Will Wallace, Jackson Gulle, Charlie Stappenbeck, Jack Walker, Cooper Gustwick, Ben Parsons, Grayson Bruce, Tripp Gill, Thaoms Bruce, Jackson Call, Sam Thorpe, Colton Goka, Louis Pascal. The coaches for the Chargers were Stephen Bruce, Randy Gill, and Jackson Walker.
