St. Vincent's Academy Rifle Team - Hits the Mark Again - GHSA Rifle Championships

This season has been nothing new to the St. Vincent's Academy Rifle team. The Saints being the only all-female rifle team, as usual, held their own as one of the best teams in Georgia State Association State sport of Riflery. They didn't miss their target again to move on. The Saints are marching into the GHSA Riflery championships for the 16th consecutive season. On the season in area matches. St. Vincent's compiled a record of 6 wins and 2 losses. The Saints have been under the guidance of Head Coach Gary Ogden since its inception in 1999.

The Saints placed third behind the regular-season champion and defending state chamion Ware County and runner-up Camden County. St. Vincent's competed in a solid area as four teams advance to the GHSA Rifle Championships semi-finals. Also, moving in the sectional matches from Area 3 were Ware County, Camden County, and the fourth-place squad from Glynn Academy.  

How did it happen? The Saints defeated Madison County 1104 to 1028 in a Sectional match on Thursday, March 25, to advance to the championships' semi-final round. Next, St. Vincent's will travel to Acworth on Thursday, April 1, to meet the Area 9 first-place team, Allatoona High School, in a bid to return to the GHSA State Riflery Championship finals for the first time since 2018.  

The GHSA State Riflery Championship will be on April 24, 2021
