The Tormenta FC Academy '09 Girls Ibis (13U) had a very successful pre-season event played in Greenville, South Carolina August 14-15.

The team competed against two Elite Clubs National League Regional teams and was able to come out on top in both matches. Tormenta won the first match, 4-0, and prevailed, 5-0, in the second match.

Keiley Good, Hala Brantley, Ava Poplin, Mady Green, and Pollyanna Rice did a fantastic job playing defense and not letting players get behind them. Paige Schuman, Ashley Brothers and Maggie Dodge dominated the midfield in both games, winning balls out of the air and helping distribute passes to the forwards. Tormenta's quick attack was led by Hollis Melnick, Madalynn Baker, Amirah Brown, and Ayla Reynolds.

Goalkeeper Bell Grace was able to keep a clean sheet in both games, and the highlight of the weekend was the creation of team goals. A spectacular sequence tarted with one a Tormenta player passing the ball back to Grace under defensive pressure, Grace switching the ball to the opposite side of the field and the attacking players going forward with speed to finish the goal.

The team is ready for league play that kicks off in late August. The Tormenta FC Academy ’09 Girls Ibis are in  the South Carolina state Challenge league this fall with high hopes of finishing at the top of the league and then moving on to the Piedmont Conference featuring the best teams in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina.
