Spring is the college scholarship offer season for high school football players. Colleges will use this time of year to offer prep players in future classes scholarships to come play for them on the next level.

Around Savannah, plenty of local high schools have had players receive scholarship offers from big-time college programs. Let’s take a look at some of the recent offers coming in over the past few weeks.

JENKINS

A defensive lineman in the Class of 2024, Lorenzo Cowan has received offers from Minnesota and South Florida of late. Tavion Gadson, a class of 2023 D-lineman, received an offer from South Florida, as well as an offer from the University of Georgia. He also has offers from Florida Atlantic and Pittsburgh.

Cowan received offers from Duke and Kentucky recently, as well. Gadson is a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports.com.

The Cavs have lots of future college players on the roster, and a quick glance at the school’s athletic twitter account (@Cavalier_Sports) will show you how many college coaches have visited the Calvary campus over the month of May.

Rising sophomore offensive lineman Walter Mathis Jr. received his first college scholarship offer from Liberty University earlier this month. Mathis is in the Class of 2025. Class of 2024 defensive back Trevor Strowbridge received his first offer from Austin Peay University earlier this month and recently picked up offer No. 2 from the University of Minnesota.

A running back in the Class of 2025, Donovan Johnson is quickly becoming one of the most recruited backs in the country for his class. He has recently picked up offers from Ohio State, Auburn, Texas A&M, Southern California, Michigan State, South Florida, Penn State, Oklahoma and Georgia Tech, among others.
