Leighton Finley, a sophomore pitcher and a former Richmond Hill High School Class of '22 grad, pitched a must-win game for the University of Georgia Baseball team on Sunday, June 9, 2024. The game was part of the NCAA baseball playoffs Super Regional in Athens, Georgia, and pitch he did!

Finley got the nod to start the must-win game two for the Bulldogs. Georgia won 11-2 as Finley pitched 6.2 innings, only allowing one run on eight hits with five strikeouts and earning his sixth win of the season.

On Sunday afternoon, Georgia's baseball team needed to win to keep its season alive in the NCAA DI baseball championships. The Bulldogs' 11-2 victory over North Carolina State kept the Dawgs alive because NC State defeated the Bulldogs the day before, June 8, 2024, 18-1.

The third and final game of the NCAA Super Regional between No. 7 Georgia (43-16) and No. 10 NC State (37-21) is set for today. The first pitch is tonight at 7 PM in Athens. The game also will be televised on ESPN.
