As the GHSA Volleyball and Softball State Playoffs continue, teams from the Savannah Area are battling to advance deeper into the postseason. The first rounds have begun, with teams moving on and others eliminated.
In volleyball, Savannah Arts, Effingham County, Islands, Savannah Christian, Calvary Day, and St. Vincent's Academy advanced to the Sweet 16 round of the GHSA state championships. These teams will play in the second round on Saturday, October 19.
Richmond Hill kept its state title hopes alive in softball with a sweep over Walton, setting up a second-round visit at Buford next week. Meanwhile, Islands High School, Effingham County High School, St. Vincent's Academy, and South Effingham High School are set to take the field this weekend, starting Friday, hoping to punch their ticket to the next playoff stage.
