Who got served this week's Donatos Pizza Volleyball Players of the Week? SVA Mary Sophia Fischer and SCPS Maggie Kyriakides

St. Vincent's Academy's Mary Sophia Fischer and Savannah Christian Preparatory School's Maggie Kyriakides have been served the Donatos Pizza Volleyball Players of the Week.

Fischer played a crucial part in St. Vincent's (14-5, 4-0 in GHSA 3A -Area3) 4 wins over Islands High School (2-0), Savannah Arts Academy (2-0), Glynn Academy (2-1), and Hilton Head Christian (2-0) for the week of September 4 – September 9, 2023. The senior setter had 67 assists, eight kills, seven aces, 29 digs, and four blocks.

 

"Mary Sophia is the Saints only senior and is a true leader on and off the court. With a young team, Mary has used her experience and consistency to steer this young group to being one formidable force in Savannah," stated St. Vincent's Academy Head Coach Nichols St. Louis

 

Maggie Kyriakides, Savannah Christian Preparatory School

Kyriakides had two solid games for Savannah Christian (14-4, 4-0 GHSA 3A-Area3) as the Raiders on the week of September 4 – September 9, 2023, went 4-0. Two of those four matches were against GHSA 5A schools, Greenbrier (2-1) and Statesboro (2-1). The junior in these two key matches had 22 kills while hitting with a .383 percentage, seven digs, and six aces.  

 

"With both matches going to a 3rd set, Maggie had to step up in a big way to create some momentum offensively which greatly affected the outcome of the game," stated SCPS Head Coach Julie Jones.
