Do you know of an outstanding eighth-grade student-athlete who needs to be recognized? Please read below on how to nominate that student-athlete!

Savannah, Georgia, has countless premier athletes, teams, and athletic programs. Still, it starts in middle school before these athletes are high school stars, but little attention is paid to the private and public Savannah area middle school athletes. One award is the Dewitt Award which has been handed out to 20 middle school athletes for four straight years. The DeWitt Award honors eighth graders who succeed in academics, community service, and athletics.

It's time to honor a new group for the fifth year of Savannah's Eight Grade Athlete of the Year DeWitt award, presented by The Exchange Club of Savannah and sponsored by the Hammond Family.

Here is the process. It would be best if you approached the student-athletes coach, principal, or athletic director to make nominations. Then the school's representative goes to the link below to complete the form. The deadline for nominations is due by April 28, 2023, at 5 p.m.

The winners will be announced Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 10 a.m., at the Forsyth Park Fountain, presented by the exchange club of Savannah.
