Football returns in less than three weeks, and the action starts now.

With the 2025 high school football season just weeks away, teams are back from the final off week. The Savannah area high school football teams are gearing up for the preseason with scrimmages, which will give fans their first look at what's to come. The countdown is on, and the pads are about to start popping.

Scrimmages begin August 1 and run through August 15, featuring some key early matchups that could set the tone for the fall. Benedictine, a perennial power, will travel to Camden County on August 8, while New Hampstead hosts Calvary Day that same evening in a matchup loaded with local talent.

Islands and Savannah High open up on August 1, with Jenkins and Richmond Hill squaring off in another early test. Over in Bryan County, Coach Cherard Freeman's team hosts a triple-header on August 1 featuring Butler and Wheeler, then travels to Bradwell on August 8.

Bethesda Academy will be busy early, opening with Frederica on August 1 and then taking road trips to Pinewood Prep and hosting a home scrimmage against Windsor Forest on August 15.

The lights come on for real in mid-August, but these preseason contests are critical for depth chart decisions, chemistry-building, and game-readiness. One thing is clear: football is almost here, and we can't wait. So, are you ready for football?

Stay tuned to the Prep Sports Report for full coverage of the scrimmages and season openers.
