    Sol C. Johnson High School has a rich and diverse history with a reputation for focusing on student achievement. The school was named for Sol C. Johnson, a journalist, philanthropist, educator, and founder of the nation's oldest newspaper published for the black community, the Savannah Tribune. The focus at SCJ is to increase student achievement and provide students with the foundation needed to succeed at the next level and beyond. SCJ parnters with parents, community organizations, institutions of higher learning, and a number of local businesses to support the school's mission, "not to equal but to excel."

    SCJ has a rich athletic history that includes state championships in both boys' and girls' basketball. Most recently, the SCJ girls' basketball program won back to back state championships in 2018 and 2019.
