Coach’s Corner Players of the Week Boy's Plyer of the Week

Quentin James | Sol C. Johnson High School

Senior | Guard

In a game that carried playoff spot implications, Quentin James stepped up and took control.

The Johnson senior guard finished with 22 points, three assists, four rebounds, and five steals in a key region win over Islands. From the opening tip, James played with purpose, setting the tone on both ends of the floor and making sure his team didn’t let the moment get too big.

Johnson head boys basketball coach Chuck Campbell said James understood exactly what was at stake.

“I believe this player deserves Player of the Week because he’s a true definition of a student-athlete who leads by example in the classroom and on the court,” Campbell said. “Quentin knew how big this region game was, and he took charge of securing the victory for his team.”

When the pressure was on, James delivered — scoring, defending, and leading the way.

Mariah Reid | Beach High School

Junior | Guard

At Beach High School, Mariah Reid put on a scoring performance that her team needed most.

The junior guard poured in 30 points against Memorial, leading the Bulldogs to a big win. Reid attacked the basket, knocked down shots, and kept her team moving forward all night.

Beach Head girls' basketball coach Olu Gordon summed up her impact simply.

“Mariah is the engine for our team,” Gordon said. “Without the engine, the car doesn’t move.”

Reid’s leadership and scoring punch continue to fuel Beach as the season moves ahead.
