Some athletes rise above the rest for one game, but these two players delivered performances twice in one week that a coach remembers for years. This week’s Coach’s Corner Players of the Week led their teams with effort, toughness, and confidence on both ends of the floor.
Zion Thomas | Bradwell Institute
Junior | Shooting Guard
Bradwell Institute junior Zion Thomas had an outstanding week, energizing the Tigers with his impressive scoring, strong rebounding, and relentless defense.
Against Glynn Academy, on January 6, 2026, Thomas scored 19 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and blocked three shots. Also on this night, Zion reached a major milestone, surpassing 1,000 career points.
He followed with another big performance Friday night, January 9, 2026, against Calvary Day, scoring 23 points while pulling down six rebounds and blocking two shots. On Saturday, January 10, 2026, Thomas capped the week by scoring seven points and grabbing four rebounds in a 59–33 win over Brunswick, helping Bradwell control the game from start to finish.
Bradwell head coach Ty Randolph said Thomas improves with every step on the court.
“Zion is a joy to coach,” Randolph said. “This young man strives for greatness in every sense. His basketball ceiling is scary with how fast he’s growing.”
With his size, scoring, and defense, Thomas forces opponents to adapt nightly.
Jasmine Mikell | Bryan County High School
Senior | Point Guard
At Bryan County, senior point guard Jasmine Mikell led the Redskins in scoring,
passing, and defense last week.
On January 6, 2026, Mikell posted 25 points, five assists, and five steals in a win over Jenkins County. She added 14 points, five assists, and six steals against Claxton High on January 9, 2026, maintaining strong play on both ends.
Bryan County head coach Mario Mincey said Mikell’s steady play has been a key part of the team’s early region success.
“Jasmine has played well all season and has helped us get off to another good start in region play,” Mincey said.
Mikell leads with energy and total game control.
