Benedictine Military School alum Carter Holton (Vanderbilt University), representing Team USA, got the start on the mound for the United States in a 7-6 victory over Chinese Taipei on the Fourth of July at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, North Carolina. Holton went 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits, one earned run, walking one, and striking out seven Chinese Taipi batters.

This will be Holton's second consecutive appearance on the Team USA Baseball Collegiate National squad after helping the 2022 squad win bronze at Honkbalweek Haarlem in the Netherlands last summer. Furthermore, Carter is the only member of the 2022 squad to be on the 2023 roster.

It is the 20th year that Team USA vs. Chinese Taipei played in the International Friendship Series from June 30 to July 4, 2023, at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC.

Holton will also participate in the 44th USA vs.Japan Collegiate All-Star Championship Series starting tomorrow, July 7, 2023, and is a five-game series. The first three games on July 7-9 will be at the National Training Complex at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, North Carolina.

Then on July 11 and 12, games four and five will be at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Ballpark in Charleston, South Carolina. The ballpark is home of the Minor League Baseball team, Charleton River Dogs.
