It’s quarterfinal day across the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) in Flag Football. Tonight, Monday, December 8, four Savannah-area teams take the field for a shot at the state semifinals. Each earned its spot in the elite eight with two wins last week.
Here’s a look at tonight’s matchups. In each bracket, quarterfinal winners advance to the semifinals, which will be played later in the evening once all quarterfinal games in that bracket are finished.
GHSA Division 3 — Whitewater Quadrant Richmond Hill vs. Locust Grove Kickoff: 6 p.m.
The winner will play in the semifinal later this evening, once all bracket quarterfinal games finish.
Richmond Hill is (15-1), led by QB Claire Holker (40+ TD passes) and Victoria Wallace (20 receiving TDs).
Their opponent, Locust Grove (21-1), brings one of the best records in the state into the matchup and has been one of the most consistent teams in the quadrant.
Wildcat coach Tony Dragon said his team is playing its best football:
“We feel like we're peaking, not slowing down.”
Dragon added that the formula remains unchanged:
“If we take care of what we do well, good things are going to happen.”
Richmond Hill’s defense, known for preventing big plays, faces a tough test against Locust Grove. The winner advances to tonight’s 7 p.m. semifinal.
Meanwhile, in the other half of the quadrant, Whitewater (22-3) faces Jackson-Atlanta (19-3) at 5 p.m., setting the stage for another intense contest before the semifinal.

GHSA Division 2 — at Redan Calvary Day vs. Greenbrier Kickoff: 6 p.m.
The winner will advance to a semifinal scheduled for later tonight.
Calvary Day (15-7) returns to the elite eight after a composed first-round win and a strong defensive performance last Thursday. The Cavaliers face Greenbrier (19-3), the top-ranked, disciplined team in Division 2.
Cavaliers coach Nick Grassi said his team has embraced the challenge:
“We know the pressure is there, but our girls just have to play the game we’ve played all season.”
He emphasized the importance of discipline:
“If we stay disciplined and pull our flags, nothing special is going to happen for them.”

GHSA Division 2 — at Therrell Jenkins vs. Therrell Kickoff: 5 p.m.
The winner faces their semifinal opponent later tonight, after the quarterfinals conclude.
Jenkins (19-1) continues to build on its rising flag football program, returning to the quarterfinals for a second straight season as it prepares to face unbeaten Therrell (21-0). The Warriors picked up two wins in last week’s tough weather conditions and enter the matchup with plenty of momentum.
Head coach Brianna Brooker praised her team’s resiliency:
“The girls handled adversity well playing flag football and basketball at the same time. They showed they want to get back to Mercedes-Benz.”
Even when Pike County scored first, Brooker said her team’s defensive response set the tone:
“Our defense stepped up immediately. Their willpower showed who they are.”
Jenkins (19-1), coming off two challenging wins last week, faces unbeaten Therrell (21-0) as it continues one of its strongest seasons.
QB Aiyana Lee had four TDs in the opener, with A’Niyah Browner adding two scores and a 40-yard pick-six in Round 2, plus two earlier interceptions.
Lee, Iycess Scott, Ke’Ara Jones, and Angelique Fleming pace the offense; Akeelah Younger, Marley Taylor, and Ca’Niyah Williams anchor the defense.
Later, Grovetown (19-4) and Jonesboro (16-0) match up at 6 p.m., with both teams seeking a spot in the semifinals.
At Therrell

GHSA Division 1 — at Columbus St. Vincent’s Academy vs. Washington County Kickoff: 6 p.m.
The winner of this quarterfinal advances to a semifinal later tonight after all quarterfinals in the bracket finish.
St. Vincent’s Academy (11-4) earned its way into the Division 1 quarterfinals with a shutout in Round 1, followed by a hard-fought win in Round 2.
Saints coach Mike St. Louis said his team’s toughness has defined their postseason:
“We can bend as long as we don’t break. Our girls stayed composed in tough moments.”
He added that SVA’s defensive identity continues to lead them:
“We didn’t allow a point in region play for a reason. Our defense expects to set the tone.”
Key players: On defense, Caroline Richardson (red-zone interception), after an injury kept her out two series, and Sophia Sweeney (game-sealing pick) in last week's round two playoff games in a 14-7 win over Telfair. Offensively, the Saints rely on running back Evangeline Rominger, Quarterback EK Harvin, and wide receiver Marly Sigman.
Across the bracket, Columbus (21-1) faces Heard County (19-1) at 5 p.m., rounding out a strong lineup of quarterfinal action.
Division 1 — At Columbus
