Bethesda Academy's Christopher Wright only started running track as a junior, according to Bethesda Head Track Coach Antwain Turner. Now, just two years later, he is headed to the NCAA Division I level.
Wright signed on Monday to continue his track and field career at Valparaiso University in Indiana.

The Bethesda Academy standout earned his chance to run at the next level after winning the South Carolina independent schools Association (SCISA) Division II state championship in the 110-meter hurdles on May 1, 2026, and at the same meet, becoming a two-time state champion in the 400-meter hurdles.
On the way to scholarship, Wright helped lead Bethesda Academy to back-to-back team state championships and became one of the top hurdlers in SCISA.
Going from a first-year track athlete as a junior to a Division I college signee is a testament to Wright's hard work and dedication.
