We have heard these names for the past three to four years. We will hear about them for some time regularly, but not on the Savannah area high school football field anymore. Now it will be on the college football field. Several players signed their National Letter of Intent (NLI) on Wednesday with ceremonies; others will wait to sign with teammates.

Three athletes in Savannah had signing ceremonies, Troy Ford Jr. from Calvary Day School, Tavion Gadson from H.V. Jenkins High School, and Pauly Seeley from New Hampstead.

At Calvary Day School, linebacker Troy Ford Jr. signed his NLI with the University of Central Florida. Ford verbally committed to the Golden Knights in March and kept to his commitment. Ford recorded 252 tackles, 33 tackles for losses, and 13 sacks during his four-year career as a starting Cavalier linebacker.

Down the block at H.V. Jenkins High School, defensive end Tavion Gadson had committed to Florida State in August, but Gadson uncommitted and signed his NLI with the Wildcats of Kentucky. Gadson would have over 100 tackles this season for the Warriors. Tavion also was ranked the nation's No. 58 defensive lineman in the country.

Wofford landed New Hampstead's Quarterback Pauly Seely. Pauly was the 42nd Michael Finocchiaro Memorial Outstanding Football Player Award, chosen by the head coaches of Chatham County and the local press as the outstanding high school player in Savannah. Seely also was the GHSA Class 4A- region co-offensive player of the year. Seely had a 66% completion percentage for 2,517 yards, 29 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Seely will enroll early at Wofford to start his college football career early.

Three other standout football players signed their NLI and will celebrate their signings with teammates in the next couple of months. From Benedictine Military School, the versatile athlete Za'Quan Bryan with the University of Minnesota, New Hampstead High School defensive end Alijah Lacey with Georgia Southern University, and Calvary Day School's defensive lineman Terry Simmons Jr with Duke University.
