Benedictine golf wins 1902 Cup for second win of the season

Benedictine Military School's golf team picked up its second victory of the season on February 26, winning the 1902 Cup by nine strokes over runner-up Richmond Hill High School.

As a team, the Cadets finished only 4-over par with all four counting scores for the BC A team coming in at 3-over par 74 or better. The contributing scores for the winning BC team were freshman Bear Dollander's 72, sophomore Hamp Threlkeld's 1-over 73, senior Whit Watson's 1-over 73 and junior Colby Brennan's 3-over 74.

Richmond Hill sophomore Ledger Conley earned low medalist honors with a score of 2-under par 70 on a windy day, edging individual competitor Freddie Chappel from North Oconee High School by one stroke. Savannah Christian senior Mary Miller carded the lowest score by a girl in the tournament, posting a score of 4-over 76 to finish in the top 10 in the mostly male event.

Other impressive individual performances included Habersham School's Braden Schnaible with a score of even-par 72, Savannah Country Day's Caden Hartley with a 3-over 74, Richmond Hill's Patrick Mahaffey with a 3-over 74 and BC C-team member Will Doyle with a 4-over 76.
