The Georgia High School Association football state championships are played this Friday and Saturday at Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta. There is one team left from the Savannah area, and they're looking for the school's third state football championship, that being the Benedictine Military School Cadets.

Region 3  #1 seed Benedictine (12-2) at Region 2 #1 seed Carver Columbus (12-1):

2021 Georgia High School Football Playoff Brackets: GHSA AAAA

What a game this should be! The Atlanta Journal-Constitution #2 ranked team, Benedictine Military School, has won 12 straight games, including a 24-21 thriller over defending state champion and the number one ranked team in the state Marist two weeks ago. But this Cadet team is balanced on offense and is extremely aggressive on defense. Its opponent must prepare for both sides of the ball.

The Cadet's leaders on offense are senior quarterback Holden Geriner, senior running backs/receivers Justin Thomas, Cam Edge, and junior Zaquan Bryant. The key has been the experienced senior offensive linmen. The offensive line has been stellar and consists of six seniors. Shayne Strickland is at left tackle, Drew Morin is at left guard, Nyle Rehman is at the center, Brian Johnson is at right guard, and Henry Hale is at right tackle. Blake Schwabe serves as a sixth man who can fill in anywhere.

On defense, Benedictine comes after the opponent at various positions. Led by linebackers seniors Holden Sapp, Mac Kromenhoek, and sophomores Bryce Baker and Wilkes Albert, they solidify the second level on defense. Defensive linemen junior Cole Semien and sophomore Jeremiah Thomas anchor a young group in the trenches.

In the secondary, seniors Justin Thomas and Ben Hollerbach, junior Zaquzn Bryant, and sophomore Luke Kromenhoek have been steady and reliable to stop the passing game by opponents. You can find all of the Cadets stats, offensively, defensively, and for special teams at MaxPreps Sports website at Benedictine Football Stats at

AJC's #3 ranked Carver of Columbus also comes into the game on a winning streak, 12 games in a row since they dropped the season's first game to Lee County 25-22. The Tigers are coming off a come from behind 22-21 over Cedartown. Carver loves to run the ball but will throw. Below are the team's breakdowns for the GHSA Class 4A Championship via the Georiga High School Football Daily.

"They are very athletic," said Benedictine Head Coach Danny Britt. "This is what we worked for since January. The team set a goal, and that's to win a state championship. We are here. We just got to play our game."

Benedictine enters the GHSA Class 4A championships with two state titles in their storied football history under Head Coach Danny Britt. The Cadets won the GHSA Class 3A title in 2016 and the first football program's state title in 2014.

Carver won one state title in 2007 in GHSA Class 3A under the now University of Georgia football assistant/running backs coach Dell McGee. McGee is also remembered as the interim head football coach at Georgia Southern University in 2015 when the Eagles won its first-ever bowl game, the GoDaddy Bowl. The Eagles defeated Bowling Green 58-27.

Good luck to the Cadets; bring home the ship, and here is the GHSA Class 4A championship game information. The game will take place this Friday, December 10, at 3:30 pm at Center Parc Stadium in Atlanta, GA. Tickets are $20 and will not be sold the day of the game at Center Parc Stadium, per the GHSA football website!
