Calvary Day School is in the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) final four for the first time since 2016, and today is unique for the Calvary Day School Class of 2024.
The five Cavalier seniors from the Class of '24 are Caden Arnold, Will Hampton, Brian Lowery, Sam Phillips, and Ales Swindell. They graduated at 9 a.m. this morning, and they'll go from purple and gold caps and gowns to Calvary baseball uniforms this afternoon.
The Cavaliers face Mary Persons (24-13) in a deciding Game 3 of the Class AAA seminfinals on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Historic Grayson Stadium.
Calvary (26-6) took the field at 4 p.m. and fell to Mary Persons 4-3 in Game 1. The Calvary bats woke up in Game 2 and needed just five innings to run-rule the Bulldogs 12-1 to force game three today.
So, from one stage at the corner of 63rd and Paulson to the Corner of Bee Road and Victory Drive, the Cavaliers look to get the biggest stage in the Class AAA baseball classification next weekend at AdventHealth Stadium, in Rome, Georgia. This stadium has been the home of the Rome Emperors (used to be the Rome Braves) of the MLB Minor League Baseball South Atlantic League.
The winner of today's Game 3 will face defending Class AAA champion Harlem, which defeated Oconee Co. yesterday 6-1 and 5-3.
