Cottis T2 after first round at World Tee Championship

Savannah Christian rising sophomore Ava Cottis played her last six holes 2-under par and carded a 1-under par 71 in the first round of the US Kids Golf World Teen Championships being played in Pinehurst, N.C.

Cottis, playing Pinehurst #5, is T2 in the Girls 15-18 age group and only one stroke behind leader Dagmar Soerensen from Denmark. Cottis will start her second round at 12:45 pm on July 28 playing with Yixuan CHEN from Paris, France and Ava Bunker from Franklin, Indiana.

In Boys 14, incoming Benedictine freshman Jack Weeks sits at T37 after a 4-over par 76 in the first roud at Pinehurst #8. He will start his second round at 12:24 pm on July 28 playing with Ben Focke from Hayden Lake, Idaho and Luke Schmiegelow from Little Rock, Arkansas.

In Boys 13, Savannah Country Day rising 8th grader Kohki Maeda is T45 after a 3-over par 75 in the first round at Longleaf Golf & Family Club. He will start his second round at 12:51 pm on July 28 with playing partners Aarush Sarkar from Orlando, Florida, and James Fisher from Raleigh, North Carolina.

In Girls 14, Richmond Hill's Alexa Mohler finsihed with a 7-over par 79 and is T21 after the first round at Pinehurst #6. She will play her second round starting at 7:52 am on July 28 with Avery Banfil from Bradenton, Florida and Ciana Tzuo from New York, New York.

In Boys 15-18, Savannah's Braden Schnaible posted 5-over par 77 in the first round on Pinhehurst #4 and is T74. He will start his second round at 9 am on July 28 with Tyler Hardtarfer from Kansas and Nicholas Brooks from Parker, Colorado.

And in Girls 13, Savannah's Maya Lilja carded a score of 17-over 89 to finish T53 after the first round at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club. She will start her second round at 10 am on July 28 with playing partners Amelia Santiago from San Juan, Puerto Rico and Phoebe Lin from Springfield, Missouri.
