Savannah Jaguars' girls' basketball player Chloe McNew and Natalie Santos are both members of the 1,000 point scorers' club as the team begins the 2025-26 campaign.
The Savannah Jaguars is a local athletic association that provides the opportunity for homeschool athletes or athletes who attend a school where the sport is not offered a chance to play middle school and varsity sports. The club started in 2024 with 14 girls playing middle school and varsity basketball but has quickly grown to include middle school and varsity volleyball, middle school and and varsity boys' basketball and middle school and and varsity baseball. The organization now boasts a membership of more than 100 athletes for the 2025-2026 athletic season.
McNew, a junior, 1,000 point threshold on December 30, 2024 against a team from Australia during the Carolina Invitational Tournament. Santos, a sophmore, broke the 1,000 point barrier on March 6, 2025 against Arthur-Okaw Christian in the National Association of Christian Athletes tournament.
McNew the 2024-2025 season with 622 points and 441 rebounds, and Santos finished last season season with 461 points and 119 assists. The Jaguars just began the 2025-26 season and are 1-0 thanks to McNew, Santos and players l like Emily Burgos, a defensive specialist who had 65 steals and 96 deflections last season.
The Jaguars play independent private schools and other homeschool programs in Savannah, Statesboro, Brunswick, Hilton Head, S.C., Columbia, S.C. and Charleston, S.C. areas. The team will end its season playing in national tournament in Gatlinburg, TN.
