Savannah's Rivers Hood posted scores of 71-68 to finish 5-under par and medal in the Boys 10-11 age group at the Kentucky Regional Final for the Notah Begay III Junior Golf Championship played July 14-15 at Bardstown Country Club in Bardstown, Kentucky.
Through the result at the regional final, Hood earned a berth in the Notah Begay III Boys Junior Golf National Championship being played in November at Koasati Pines at Coushatta in Kinder, Louisiana. Hood dominated the qualifier, besting runner up Hagan Newton from Berea, Kentucky, by 13 strokes.
The Notah Begay III series hosts 18-hole and 36-hole tournaments that are open to every level of player during the year, and all tournaments act as qualifiers that enable players to move along toward the championships for both girls and boys at the end of the year. Players that qualify through regionals compete in the national championship tournaments in Kinder, Lousiana that is broadcast on the Golf Channel in December.
