Savannah's Alex Dao, a sophmore at Benedictine Military School, is tied atop the leaderboard for Boys 15-18 at the Southern Showcase Season Kickoff being played February 7-8 at Sanctuary Cove Golf Club in Waverley, Ga.
Dao carded an opening round score of 3-over 75 and is tied for first with Will Orendorf from Brunswick, Ga. Dao carded an eagle on the par-5 12th hole to jumpstart his first round and will carry a two-stroke lead over Elijah Falken from St. Simon's Island, Ga., into the second round.
The Southern Showcase was founded in 2024 with the sole purpose of guiding elite junior golfers on their path to college recruitment and competitive golf. With a keen focus on helping players navigate the complexities of junior golf rankings, the Southern Showcase aims to put junior golfers on a path for advancement in both their game and their recruitment prospects.
