SAVANNAH, Ga. — The bounce of basketballs on local school's courts means one thing — high school hoops are back across the Savannah Area. As the 2025–26 Georgia High School Association (GHSA) basketball season gets ready to tip off, Savannah-area programs are earning early statewide attention.
According to Sandy’s Spiel, the trusted source for GHSA basketball rankings for more than a decade, several Coastal Georgia teams and players appear in the preseason state rankings and all-state teams.
Boys: Bradwell and Calvary Crack the Top 10
Two Savannah-area boys’ programs start the season ranked among the state’s top 10.
Bradwell Institute opens No. 10 in Class 5A after finishing 21–7 last season. The Tigers return several key seniors and aim to build on a strong playoff run.
Calvary Day School begins No. 10 in Class 3A–1A Private following a 19–8 record last year. The Cavaliers ended the 2024–25 regular season ranked No. 7 and bring back a veteran lineup.
Bradwell senior wing Chris Perry was selected to the GHSA Class 3A All-State Third Team for his all-around play and scoring ability.

Girls: Bradwell Returns After Final Four Run
On the girls’ side, Bradwell Institute opens the year ranked No. 8 in Class 5A after a stellar 26–4 season that ended with a trip to the GHSA Final Four. The Lady Tigers bring back much of their core and expect to contend again in 2025–26.
Jenkins High School also draws attention behind senior guard Aniyah Browner, who earned GHSA Class 3A All-State Third Team honors after leading the Warriors in scoring and assists last season.

Coastal Georgia Standouts Earn Preseason Honors
Several Savannah-area athletes were recognized on the All-Coastal Georgia Preseason Team, highlighting the region’s depth of basketball talent.
