Effingham County’s Ava Wiley and Bryan County’s Elizabeth Harvey earned the John Carr Seaport Real Estate Softball Player of the Week honors after delivering strong performances on both sides of the ball.

Wiley, a junior pitcher, dominated in the circle and delivered at the plate for the Rebels. She went 2-0 last week, allowing just five hits and one walk while striking out nine. Offensively, she hit .500 with a .667 on-base percentage and an .883 slugging percentage, including two doubles and an RBI. Effingham head coach Bradley Thompson credited her steady development since her freshman year.

“Ava has continuously gotten herself better since her freshman campaign,” Thompson said. “She’s turned into a very reliable pitcher and is also dangerous at the plate. We’re glad to call her an ECHS Rebel.”

Harvey, a senior shortstop, powered the Bryan County offense. She is hitting .518 with a 1.036 slugging percentage, totaling seven home runs and 26 RBIs this season. Beyond her stats, Harvey has become a key team leader. Bryan County head coach Jessica Schroeder-Cooper said Harvey’s positive presence has elevated her game in her final year.

“Elizabeth has always been vital to BCHS softball, but this year she has grown as a leader on and off the field,” Schroeder-Cooper said. “Her positivity shows in her stats. She has matured as a player and person, and we couldn’t be prouder. We will miss her greatly next year.”

Harvey has received an offer from East Georgia and expects more to follow soon.
