FIFE THERAPY BOYS SOCCER Players of the Week

Luis Lopez, Woodville-Tompkins High School, Foward, sr.: The Wolverines clinched their second consecutive Region 3-A Division I soccer title on March 20, 2024, with Luis leading the way, scoring two goals and assisting on one more in a victory over Metter 3-1.

Coach's Comment: "Luis knew we needed a big performance, and he delivered. Luis scored two big goals and an assist to get a 3-0 lead in the first half. In the second half, after we decided to play more conservatively, Luis dropped back in the midfield to help keep possession and to put more pressure on our opponent's offense."—Woodville Tompkins High School Head Coach Kalen Pinckney.

JP Alonso, South Effingham High School, Midfield, sr.: JP was stellar on defense with 11 takeaways and two goals, bringing the Mustangs back from a 2-0 deficit against rivals Effingham County on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Alonso followed it up with one of the top goals of the year, according to SEHS head coach Dakota Paradice, on the road against highly ranked Evans, giving South Effingham a 2-goal lead during a rainy and windy game region match on March 22, 2024, in a Mustang 2-0 win.

Coach's Comment: "JP isn't a player who always shows up on the stat sheet because he does so much to put his teammates in a place to succeed. This is one of those weeks where other teams found out that he is just as dangerous as any other player on the field. It was great to see him play his last rivalry game and be in total control the whole time with not much opposing him and then a cherry on top to see a very good Evans team led by 9 seniors who also struggled to contain him. JP was fantastic player of the week for us." - South Effingham High School Head Coach Dakota Paradice.
