Savannah's Dylan McMahon, starting center for North Carolina State University and a Savannah Christian Preparatory School alumnus, has been named to the watchlist for the 2023 Rimington Trophy.

The Rimington Trophy is awarded to the player considered to be the best center in college football. The trophy is named after Dave Rimington, who played for the University of Nebraska from 1979 through 1982, and is considered the "Heisman Trophy for offensive linemen."

McMahon is a redshirt junior at NC State and a three-year starter on the offensive line for the Wolfpack. He started the first 10 games of the 2022 season at right guard, then moved to center following an injury to All Atlantic Coast Conference center Grant Gibson.

At Savannah Christian, McMahon played on both the offensive and defensive lines, recording 131 tackles with 89 solo stops and 18 tackles for loss on defense. As a senior, he was credited with 45 knockdown blocks for the Red Raiders, who advanced to the Georgia High School Association Class A Private state semifinals and finished 11-2.

McMahon was ranked as the No. 85 recruit in Georgia and the No. 9 center nationally by Rivals.com and No. 79 recruit in Georgia and the No. 8 center nationally by 247Sports.com.

In 2023, the Rimington Trophy committee worked with Pro Football Focus (PFF) to narrow down its pre-season list to the top 40 centers in college football. PFF grades every player on every play of every game on how well they execute their given assignment.
