The Georgia High School Association (GHSA), through Trackwrestling.com, has posted the results of regional wrestling tournaments. 118 Savannah, Georgia, area high school wrestlers are advanced to the 2024-25 Traditional Wrestling Sectionals. These athletes secured top positions in their respective region tournaments, with fifth-place finishers serving as alternates. The Sectionals are scheduled for February 8, 2025, at various locations. Successful competitors will then move on to the State Traditional Championships, set for February 13-15, 2025, at the Macon Centreplex.
In terms of teams and wrestlers advancing, South Effingham leads the way in Class 5A Region 1 with an impressive 13 wrestlers moving on. Region foe Effingham is sending nine. Richmond Hill High School has 12 wrestlers advancing in Class 6A Region 1. Meanwhile, in Class 4A Region 1, Benedictine Military School boasts 14 qualifiers, followed by New Hampstead with six. Over in Class 3A Region 3, three teams will send 12 wrestlers: Jenkins High School, Islands High School, and Windsor Forest High School. Beach has six, and Calvary rounds it out with five. Lastly, in Class 1A Area 3, Bryan County sends six wrestlers to the next stage. Savannah Country Day and Savannah Christian will contribute two representatives each.
